Dagaz Tierras de Pumanque is winemaker Marco Puyo’s leading wine and from a blend of Cabernet, Carmenere, Syrah and Petit Verdot. A wonderfully complex wine with rich fruit, hints of chocolate, balancing acidity and silky tannins.

Sourced from the Pumanque vineyard which is located 34 km from the Pacific Ocean in a straight line, at an altitude of 238 m.a.s.l. The soil here is composed of granite, with large amounts of quartz stones with different degrees of fragmentation. It is deep and permeable, which allows good root growth. The harvest begins with Syrah, then Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot and ending with Carmenere.  Aging for 17 months in French oak barrels 9% new and 91% used to produce aromas and flavours of oak that serve only as a complement to the freshness, energy and expression of the “terroir” of the wine.

During the 90s whilst working for large wineries, the renowned winemaker Marco Puyo explored each of Colchagua’s distinct terroirs. It wasn’t until 2005 that within one of the best areas of Pumanque he found a unique terroir and decided to plant a vineyard of 40 hectares. In 2009 he started to produce small quantities, from one or two barrels, to create wine on a personal scale that were a reflection of the site. In 2015 he officially founded Dagaz along with business partner Patricio Gómez-Barris. The first wine, harvested in 2016 and a blend of 4 different varieties is an example of their philosophy – to make high quality wines that are an authentic representation of their soil.
