Painted Wolf Lightening Sauvignon Blanc is a beautifully hand-crafted, limited release, barrel-fermented Sauvignon Blanc. Whole-bunch pressed using wild yeast giving a wine of great texture, citrus fruit, herbal notes and a hint of creamy vanilla on the long finish.
Supported by a touch of Semillon, this is a restrained, elegant style of Sauvignon Blanc, reminiscent of a dry white Bordeaux. Green fruit, citrus and a racy minerality combine to create a rich texture which lingers on the palate.
This wine is named after Lightning, Kruger National Park’s most famous painted wolf.
Jeremy and Emma Borg founded Painted Wolf Wines to create unique wines from a small number of growers in some of South Africa's prime sites, including Paarl, Swartland and Stellenbosch - low-yielding areas which are mostly unirrigated and farmed organically.
They called their company Painted Wolf, after the endangered African Wild Dog. The Painted Wolf 'pack' is their community of talented individuals who bring the best available grapes, technical and practical skills, resulting a range of delicious, authentic and satisfying wines.
Five percent of Painted Wolf's profits from UK sales are donated to Tusk Trust, which not only funds projects to protect wildlife, particularly endangered species, but also helps to alleviate poverty through sustainable development and education amongst rural communities which live alongside wildlife.
