Umbrele Chardonnay is made from grapes grown in the valley in the shadow of the Carpathian Mountains. A vibrant peachy unoaked Chardonnay with hints of tropical fruit. Very drinkable.

The winemaking tradition in Romania is a long and noble one. The first records of viticulture in the Banat region date back to the Roman invasion of Dacia in the First Century AD, but legend tells of Bacchaus, the God of Wine, spending his childhood there. More recent history shows that the vineyards used for Umbrele were already renowned by 1447, when the lord of Severin Mihall de Ciorna purchased the vineyards for 32 Hungarian gold florins.

Hailing from the shadow of the Carpathian Mountains in Transylvania, there has been massive investment in the winery and in new vineyards with the replanting of over 600 hectares. This investment has resulted in beautifully fresh and fruity wines.
