Alternatively you can order online for collection at a safe distance from the shop. With many of our restaurants and pub returning this weekend it is starting to feel a bit more like normal.  Rewarding Your Recommendations

We greatly appreciate when one of our customers introduces a new customer to enjoy everything Talking Wines has to offer. We love our customers becoming ambassadors for our wines and service and it remains one of the best ways for us to reach new customers.

We have been discussing how to thank those of you that go out of your way to help us reach wine drinkers who would enjoy our wines. In future if you recommend us to a new customer we would like to give you a token of our appreciation. When the new customer orders a case of 11 wines we will select a bottle of wine for both you and the new customer as a gift to thank you. We will send the gift with the new customer's delivery and you will receive your bottle with your next order.

Just make sure that the new customer you recommend adds a delivery note to tell us who recommended them and we will do the rest. We look forward to selecting something special for you to enjoy.

Discover Spain's Whites

Spain has long been known for its great red wines, from Rioja and Ribera del Duero to the great value Tempranillo from La Mancha. Over recent years Spanish white wines have improved beyond recognition and there is now a plethora of styles at different price points to explore.

Traditionally many white wines in Spain were made oxiditatively in open casks or amphora giving a sherry-like wine. Whilst this style can be very fine when done well, much of it was of poor quality. With the introduction of modern wine-making techniques of temperature-controlled fermentation in stainless steel tanks fresher, fruitier wines started to become the norm. Now Spain has a range of white wines to rival many wine-producing countries.

Rioja producers such as Luis Canas have produced some fine barrel fermented white wines for many years. A more recent development has been white Rioja made from Tempranillo Blanco which is derived from the red grape that mutated into a green variety. Manzanos Tempranillo Blanco is a fresh wine with lovely weigh to it.

Outside of Rioja things start to get really interesting. Godello is a grape from North West Spain that has great texture and complexity. Lagar de Xestosa Godello from Monterrei is a fine example and from the oldest Godello vines in the world Valdesil Godello from Valdeorras is aged on the lees to produce a wonderfully complex wine.

At the fresher end of the scale,Capcanes Sense Cap Blanc from Catalunya is a blend of old vine Garnacha Blanca and Macabeo giving a vibrant wine with good weight and fresh fruit flavours. The label shows an ancient painting discovered in a nearby cave. Diez Siglos Verdejo from Rueda has characteristic sour flavours of the grape with peach and apricot.

There are so many great Spanish whites I could mention from the Albarinos of Rias Baxas to the fresh wines of Somontano in the east. To introduce you to some of these great wines with varied styles, we have put together a fantastic Spanish Whites Case of six wines from our range for just £79. The case includes a bottle each of Valdesil Godello, Torrado Albarino, Sense Cap Blanc, Luis Canas Barrel Fermented Rioja Blanco, Diez Siglos Verdejo and Enate Chardonnay. To take advantage of this offer follow the link Case of 6 Spanish Whites.
