It's An Iberian Thing
Spain and Portugal continue to be great places for new wine discoveries. Some of our recent additions are a little different and hopefully will tempt you to try something new.
Quinta da Alorna hails from Tejo south of Lisbon. A family Estate dating back to the 18th Century. The Verdelho is a fresh, zesty white with plenty of tropical fruits and mineral citrus notes.
To the south of Tejo is the region of Alentejo where Adeja de Rendondo brings together the grapes of around 200 local growers. Their Porta da Ravessa Tinto Reserva is a blend of indigenous Touriga Nacional and Alicante Bouschet, with Syrah to make a rich, complex, full-bodied red with damson and blackberry fruit.
Deep in Galicia’s Ribeira Sacra region, on the banks of the River Sil, Adega Ponte da Boga vineyards are planted on steep, ancient terraced slopes. Here the hand-harvested Godello is refreshing and complex with flavours of pear, green apple and mineral notes.
Bodegas Altolandon at 1,100 metres is one of Spain's highest altitude wineries. As with Mendoza, the high diurnal range (difference between day and night time temperatures), helps extend the ripening period for Malbec grapes. With just a very light touch of oak, it is a very aromatic style of Malbec with concentrated blueberry, blackberry and plum fruit.
These are just a few of the wonderful wines we will be showing at our Christmas Tasting on the 16th November.
